ABOUT THE BASKET
Each tote is handmade in West Africa from vetiver grass and features beautiful and intricate patterns/colors. Because of the nature of this item, the exact size and color patterns may vary. Each piece might contain bright pops of color as shown in the photos. No two market baskets are identical, and colors may vary.
Vetiver grass helps soil and water conservation, making it a great crop for environmental rehabilitation efforts. The crops help with erosion control, runoff water retention, and cleansing polluted sources of water.
ABOUT THE ARTISANS
Each piece is hand made in Ghana by women farmers. Each piece helps support women farmers and contributes substantially to their economic viability. These women create market baskets during off-season farming months to help keep control of their farmland.
