BENEFITS OF OLIVE WOOD
Using an Olive Wood Spice Jar helps preserve the natural aromas and intensity of spices compared to many other materials. Olive wood is a natural resource, making it a biodegradable and eco-friendlier alternative to plastics and synthetic materials. Its natural resistance to most fungi and odor-resistant properties add to its durability. Olive wood is prized for its stain and odor resistance compared to other woods used for cooking utensils, and has been favored for use in kitchenware for centuries.
CARING FOR YOUR OLIVE WOOD SPICE JAR
Wooden kitchenware is best used with dry ingredients and is not recommended for use with liquids. Hand wash only with mild detergents–wood is not well suited for the dishwasher. Do not soak in water and dry with a soft towel immediately after washing to avoid warping. As with any wood-based kitchen tool, preserve your piece with food-grade mineral oils after each wash. If your bowl requires sanitizing, soak the jar in a hydrogen peroxide/water solution for about 10 minutes. Rinse and dry immediately.
To remove strong odors: sometimes the oil from spices can seep into the wood and leave behind an odor. To neutralize the jar, coat with baking soda and let sit overnight.
