BENEFITS OF OLIVE WOOD
Olive Wood Rolling Pin – Using an Olive Wood Rolling Pin in baking helps preserve the integrity of doughs. A properly seasoned wooden rolling pin will have natural non-stick properties, making it a favorite for breads and softer cookie doughs. Tapered French rolling pins are lighter weight than standard pins and are easier to maneuver and pivot. These rolling pins provide the least amount of distance between your hands and the dough for greater control.
Olive wood is a natural resource, making it a biodegradable and eco-friendlier alternative to plastics and synthetic materials. Its natural resistance to most fungi and odor-resistant properties add to its durability. Olive wood is prized for its stain and odor resistance compared to other woods used for cooking utensils, and has been favored for use in kitchenware for centuries.
CARING FOR YOUR OLIVE WOOD ROLLING PIN
Wooden kitchenware is best used with dry ingredients and is not recommended for use with liquids. Hand wash only with mild detergents–wood is not well suited for the dishwasher. Do not soak in water and dry with a soft towel immediately after washing to avoid warping. As with any wood-based kitchen tool, preserve your piece with food-grade mineral oils after each wash. If your pin requires sanitizing, soak in a hydrogen peroxide/water solution for about 10 minutes. Rinse and dry immediately.
To remove strong odors: sometimes the oil from doughs can seep into the wood and leave behind an odor. To neutralize the pin, coat with baking soda and let sit overnight.
