ABOUT THE SERIES

As a kid, I read travel magazines at my great-grandmothers house. She was an avid traveler and kept them stashed away in a dusty cabinet. I read a lot as a kid, and I loved thumbing through these old magazines. The photography and compelling stories made me fall in love with the world. I would always say to myself that someday I’m going to see that world. I’m still holding myself to that promise 30 years later.

This painting series is inspired by the stories and the incredible people who make up the cultures that I read about. Maybe they’ll inspire you in some way, too.
